I’ve always been really interested in how women create the work life balance that’s right for them as an individual – especially when kids are in the mix too!
Over the years I’ve seen students decide to become full-time Mums, start new careers, choose to work part-time, and some, like me, have taken a leap of faith into the world of entrepreneurship.
So, if like me, you’re interested in how other Mums make it work, I thought it would be fun to share my story with you.
Now, you might be under the impression that I’ve always worked in the field of natural health and yoga, but I’ll dispel that myth by letting you know that I started out my professional life as an analyst at an Investment Bank in London .
The funny thing is, throughout my Economics degree I used to regularly attend yoga and meditation classes and when people asked me what I’d like to do, I’d say that I wanted to become a yoga teacher. They were usually less than impressed by this decidedly low key aspiration of mine and would usually respond with something along the lines of “You can’t “just” be a yoga teacher!”
So, after university I joined the ranks of graduates in London ’s financial sector. It didn’t take me long to realise how tough it was for women in this field to balance their careers with their home lives.
So to cut a long story short, after two years I handed in my resignation, hopped on a plane to India where I studied yoga for a year before returning back to London , this time as a Yoga Teacher – and the rest is history!
